Ponaganset Virtual Academy

Who can attend?

A: Any Ponaganset student in grades 6-12 may attend.

Can I return to a Ponaganset School at any time?

A: Students may return to in-person learning at each quarter break when participating in the FG curriculum.  Students electing Edgenuity courses may return at the end of the semester. Written request to return should be sent to Patricia Marcotte, Director of Student Services at [email protected] within 2 weeks of the next marking period. Approval will be based on classroom availability in order to meet RIDOH guidelines.

Will the curriculum parallel the in-person courses?

A: Yes, it will follow the same scope and sequence as in-person sessions when utilizing FG Curriculum resources.  Those students utilizing the Edgenuity curriculum will work at their own pace with a teacher/coach to help students meet targets for each semester.  Both FG and Edgenuity curriculum follows Common Core and other National and State Standards.

  • All PVA students are virtual 100% of the time but teachers may be teaching with students in-person or without, depending on the course/content.
  • A schedule will be created with guidance support through the Director of 6-12 Student Supports and Assistant Superintendent's office.

Option 3: Students will be online utilizing all FG Curriculum and teachers for all of their courses.  Students will participate from home with in-person courses offered at school or with a virtual class, depending on the school delivery model.  These online classes will follow the school schedule and will have the same due dates and assignments as the live in-person course.
